Event Details -
We need people who are willing to work hard and play a little too. Starting at 9:00, there will be set up projects like moving boards from trailers to tents, organizing paddles and PFD’s on the beach, and setting up the registration paperwork. At about 9:30, Umiak will have a staff orientation on the beach where we will learn about event organization and any projects that still need attention. The park opens to the public at 10:00. There is always a line at the entrance starting at the 9:30, so it is very important that staff and volunteers are on time.
Once the event is open to the public, volunteers are needed on the water keeping a perimeter*, helping with parking at the off-site location and working the registration tent. We will also have people on the beach helping with paddle and life jacket distribution. The event is scheduled to end at 4:00 pm, with break down taking about one hour.
* In order to be a perimeter safety boater, you must be comfortable being on the water in a kayak or canoe for multiple hours, assisting people on the water, and be able to respond in the event of an emergency.
