Friends Of Waterbury Reservoir

Our story began in 2024, as two adult bald eagles worked together to build and prepare their nest. In 2025, we watched their eaglets hatch and grow from tiny, helpless chicks into strong young eagles. Day by day, they learned from their parents, stretched their wings, took their first flights, explored the world around them, and eventually caught fish and hunted on their own. It has been an incredible journey to witness, from the first days in the nest to the moment they began finding their own

As we look to the hillsides and mountains around the Waterbury Reservoir, it is obvious that summer has faded, and the colors of autumn are upon us. We certainly hope that you have been able to get out on the water this season to enjoy the fabulous experiences that this local resource offers.

August has arrived, bringing lots of activity on the reservoir. Warm muggy days have brought out the boaters, swimmers, and campers, and the state parks staff have been very busy.
