Public Access Greeter Program

Aquatic nuisance species are non-native organisms introduced into new habitats that cause harm to the ecosystem. They spread primarily through the overland transport of watercraft and associated equipment. The Greeter Program is a crucial first line of defense against further infestations by educating the public, inspecting boats, and collecting data.

Monofilament Fishing Line Recycling Project

Improperly discarded fishing line and tackle has been observed at access points. This litter poses a significant threat to local wildlife, with the potential to cause injury or even death to birds and aquatic mammals. To combat this issue, we have installed monofilament line recycling bins at popular fishing locations, providing a convenient way for anglers to properly dispose of their used line.

Common Loon Recovery Project

Our goal is to help the common loon populations thrive. This often involves monitoring, habitat protection, and addressing threats. A key tool in these efforts is the loon nesting raft, a man-made floating platform designed to provide a safe and stable nesting site, especially in areas where natural shorelines are vulnerable to fluctuating water levels or human disturbance.
